I'm surprised by how little quite a lot of (adult) people don't know about animals, like how do you not know that deer shed their antlers every year or that horseshoes don't hurt a horse's hoof or that sheep NEED to be sheared for their health or that milking doesn't hurt cows

TF2 MERCS IN THE ANIMAL CARE INDUSTRY BECAUSE WORK HAS BEEN MAKING ME SAD
scout: scout is new to the industry. a year at most. the fastest bather you could find in town. doesn’t want to start his own business, so works for a mom and pop shop. personality hire, but he’s getting better and better every day. has no interest in learning how to groom, though. he doesn’t have the right eye to make an animal look good.
soldier: soldier is more likely to be an owner of a very blank salon that he rents out booths for individual groomers. only takes enough from the money pool to maintain the building. doesn’t really care what goes on otherwise. his tenants LOVE him, because any issue is solved within 48 hours and they can do whatever they want as long as they take care of the place. handles sharpening because he knows the sharpener.
pyro: runs a luxury doggy daycare; and is VERY serious about the job. is up almost 24 hours a day during holiday seasons taking care of up to 30 dogs a day. has a handful of full time, live in employees, but they get so nervous when they’re not there they just stay at the daycare all day, watching. loves their employees. pays like, double the average wage as a start, because pyro expects nonstop work. consistent raises and bonuses, AND pizza parties.
engineer: a man of many hats. is actually a farrier. but if you got a sheep that needs shearing or something that needs to be tinkered with or a blade that needs sharpening or a dog that just needs a bath and nail trim he’s also your man. is the ONLY LICENSED AND CERTIFIED SHARPENER IN THREE FUCKING STATES. busy, busy man. soldier sends wealthy business and hearty workers his way in exchange for a monthly sharpening for his little shop. they’re friends, and soldier has always been a man of his word, so of course he agreed.
heavy: specializes in extra large dogs. 70 pound minimum to book with him. he runs a one on one fear free grooming experience called “Giant Spaw For Giant Dogs”. his website to book an appointment is full of pictures of him holding these massive dogs like they’re puppies. he’s smiling so wide in each picture. heavy loves dogs. has numerous certifications. is dog cpr certified. regularly attends dog shows. his salon is BEAUTIFUL. sleek, modern, lavender and navy theme. you enter and the reception area smells… so good. charges an arm and a leg though. but he sends you like… pictures of your dog on photoshopped backgrounds. it’s so worth it, his clientele is DEVOTED to him. one time he got sick and had to cancel his appointments and one of his clients broke down on him, praying for his health over the phone.
demo: demo is the best worker in the state, and he cycles through salons and clinics often based on where he’s needed. every business wants him so bad when they don’t have him. is getting paid VERY well to do what he does best. enjoys the process of bathing a dog without the stress of the haircut. fast, efficient, able to juggle multiple groomers as ONE bather. he’s a vital asset to any team he’s with, and he doesn’t even need the money. also likes working kennel. will help pyro during the holiday season for a break.
spy: i have two ideas. spy either has like, celebrity clientele, or spy exclusively grooms cats. requires his clients on a monthly schedule either way. his salon is also one on one quiet luxury pet care. brown and cream colored salon. never remembers to take pictures of his work. to book with him requires prepayment. website is sleek, and his portfolio is sorted by breed. doesn’t ask what anyone wants done on their pet, just does what he thinks is best. they always come out stellar. even his worst grooms are westminster worthy. has a wall of pet colognes and finishing sprays.
sniper: sniper is a mobile groomer and his business is called “Come Wash My Dog”. fast, efficient. doesn’t do anything fancy on any dog, and charges accordingly. does keep bows and bandanas to put on his favorite clients. likes terriers. occasionally gets caught up talking to his clients. it’s like his human interaction for the day. don’t come up to him making any requests, he is very frank that he is not one of them fancy groomers. he gives the dogs a trim if he can. that’s why his prices are so low.
medic: see, medic might make a really bad and unethical human doctor. but i think he’d make a phenomenal avian veterinarian. i think if medic became a veterinarian he would be a much different, much more ethically fulfilled man. known for his passion and dedication to the job. practically sleeps in his office so he is on call, at all times. probably wouldn’t have interest in tending to anything past the birds, but because he is known as one of three exotic vets in the state he’ll occasionally see reptiles and rodents. only has passing thoughts of joining an illegal pet trade, but he loves his job so much. he couldn’t forgive himself if he squandered it. keeps every feather that falls off his clients, and keeps them in organized files. when a client dies, he’ll give them the feathers and keep one for his clinic’s gallery wall. has a clinic cat because he thinks the irony’s funny. much more at peace with himself. at his worst he’s like house but with birds and without the drug addiction.

Weresheep that refuses to let you trim their wool, because then they can't bury you in it when they want all your attention.
sorry but the weresheep gets no fucking say in when it gets sheared. Sheep NEED to be sheared regularly for their own health and safety and they get manhandled by that one lesbian sheep shearer whether they like it or not. but they can still bury you in wool when it's not shearing season.

I was thinking about the time I saw someone comment on the morality behind the experiments on dinosaurs and was asking “how could someone do this?”, and it made me think about how I never questioned that. Like, I’ve been vegan for so long that seeing horrific acts of animal abuse like that is run of the mill behavior for me when it comes to animal centered industries.
Unethical breeding is rampant across every single domesticated species to the point where the villains in Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory aren’t actually that out there in their evilness. They’re literally just regular people who were given the chance to genetically modify animals and educated enough to do it.
Just look at…
- How flat muzzled dogs and cats struggle to breathe due to how they’re purposefully bred.
- How pure bred dogs are bred by people who know full well that they have hereditary health issues.
- How poultry raise for meat are purposely bred (and overfed) to the point of heart attacks and broken legs because they’re bodies can’t handle their weight and how egg-laying hens are generally malnourished due to the constant laying they’ve been purposefully bred to do.
- How dairy cows are purposefully bred to produce so much milk that once they’ve been forced to reproduce (the vast majority are bred through artificial insemination)(most domesticated animals are) milking is pretty much a necessity because otherwise their udders get swollen and cracked, which is painful.
- How sheep are purposefully bred to the point of needing to be sheared because otherwise they’ll overheat and die.
- How lop-earred rabbits are purposefully bred to have their ears that way, despite the fact that it affects their hearing and a lot of them end up becoming deaf from it.
People who choose to genetically modify animals, or even just continue to breed them once they’ve already been modified for specific looks and purposes, in the first place generally don’t view them as living, breathing animals with experiences or feelings, they look at them as products to shape and sell.
And they do it because they can, hardly anyone is actually trying to stop them and the majority of people straight up encourage the behavior by creating demand (knowingly or unknowingly).

Tag Game Wednesday
Thank you @spookygingerr for making this week’s tag game, and @energievie @lingy910y @jrooc @suzy-queued @deedala @crestfallercanyon for tagging me
this wednesday's tag game we're talking hairrrr 👩🏻🦰
what is your current hair like?
@rutherinahobbit just gave it a bit of a re-dye so it’s mostly dark brown, with some bleached streaks. It’s got a bit a low key Cruella deVille / Skunk vibe going for it :)
what is your natural hair like?
Brown. Straight. With a cowlick front right.
what’s you favourite hair style/colour you’ve had?
Ah man, don’t make me pick! So much of my hair has been awesome!

what hair style/colour do you find most attractive on other people? (if you have a preference)
I love intricate braids (because I suck at doing them!!!) and undercuts and colours. Just… interesting stuff, y’know? Think Natalie Dormer in Mockingjay!
what’s your biggest hair regret?
I don’t really have any. It’s hair. If you dye it and it looks bad you can cut it. If you cut it and it looks bad you can cut it again. Worse things have happened at sea, y’know? But I was pretty said when I eventually found a single exception to my claim up to that point of ‘I can pull off any hair colour, platinum blond to jet black…’ - turns out I can NOT pull of ginger. That was sad. Was ginger for two days and freaked the shit out of myself and Ruth every time we looked at my hair. Dyed it dark auburn very sharpish after lol 🤷🏽♂️
what’s the longest your hair as ever been?
I never felt very girly, and therefore I never wanted to have long hair. Also I hated my mother brushing my hair (so painful!!) so the shorter the better. Then I got a bit older and tried growing it out. This is the longest it ever got. That’s me at… 17/18 maybe?

what’s the shortest your hair has ever been?
We had an open day at the farm where we sheared sheep and humans for charity. It was so much fun!! This is me and my sheep Willow, before and after.

what’s your go to style when you’re due a hair wash?
Alice band. Which ironically always leads to people telling me how cute I look. And then I feel the need to confess that I had to Alice band the hair because it was just THAT filthy, it couldn’t be loose anymore… hahaha

I said this in a repost but I feel like it deserves it's own post. DO NOT SUPPORT PETA. They might be called "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals" but that's not what they're about.
The first red flag is the term "animal rights" and their shitty attitude towards the term "animal welfare." Animal rights has the end goal of ending the use of animals for any reason, including companionship and medical reasons. It is not grounded in reality. Animal welfare on the other hand focuses on the wellbeing of animals, it acknowledges that humans and domestic animals rely on each other. Animal welfare promotes the ethical consumption of animal products, which is great because some people (like me) can't go vegan.
The second red flag is their euthanasia rates. The AKC and the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association have both denounced PETA because the euthanasia rate in one of their Virginia shelters was 99%. In 2022 they euthanized 79% of their cat intakes and 95% of the surviving cats were sent to kill-shelters (which actually aren't as bad as one might think, but you'd assume an organization like PETA would be anti-kill shelter). They euthanized 68% of their dog intakes, but only adopted out 4%. I could not find what happened to the other 28%, but if the cats were any indication they sent them to other shelters. They euthanized 78% of their animal intakes that were not cats or dogs. Ex-employees have repeatedly reported that many of the animals PETA euthanizes did not need to be euthanized.
The third red flag is their misinformation campaign. An excellent example is their anti-wool campaign that features a poster of a bloody lamb. If sheep are not shorn, they will heat exhaust and potentially die. Even animal sanctuaries shear their sheep. Shearing is like a hair cut, the skin is not touched. In other campaigns they intentionally omit information, such as practices being approved by vets in order to safeguard health (such as pregnant sows being separated from the other pigs, it's done to prevent fights).
The fourth red flag is their stance on pitbulls, that stems directly from the founder. The founder wrote a newspaper article calling for shelters to destroy all dogs that look like pitbulls. PETA itself has joined up with groups advocating for the ban of pitbulls. While I do admit that pits can be dangerous, and that a shit ton of behavior is genetic, banning all pits is ridiculous. Pits can be great dogs if trained and raised correctly, and banning them will lead to dogs dying, including dogs that aren't even pitbulls. Shelter and animal control workers are notoriously bad at identifying what is and isn't an American pitbull terrier.
#I can and will provide sources if asked#It's super easy to find this stuff though#just like put “PETA misinformation” or “PETA anti-pitbull” into google#Or google the difference between “animal rights” and “animal welfare”#Animal welfare#fuck peta#peta

So I'm trying to get a better understanding of what Veganism is all about, from an ethical standpoint. So, my Grandparents keep chickens pretty much as pets and will regularly give eggs away to family members because they have tons of them. And I'm just curious what the Vegan perspective on that situation is? Like is the main problem with the cruelty of industrial farming or is using animal products in general just blanketly considered bad?
Like I know Vegans do keep pets, so I just wonder what the perspective would be on using eggs or wool or milk or something from an animal that you care for as a pet? Like, if I decided to rescue a sheep an name them and give them a home with me as like another member of the family, would it be considered unethical to use their wool to make yarn for crochet or something like that? Is it different depending on the situation?
The core belief to keep in mind here is that we as vegans oppose the exploitation of animals for human benefit. For welfarists (who tend to be meat eaters or vegetarians) the main issue with animal products is the cruelty involved, whereas vegans tend to be abolitionists, who want to abolish animal agriculture rather than simply improve treatment.
This is relevant for discussing backyard eggs, because those eggs are the result of exploitation. The hens themselves have been exploited because they have been bred into bodies that vastly overproduce eggs to the extent that it comes with a myriad of health issues, they also usually come from hatcheries where male chicks are brutally slaughtered on mass. To then take what their bodies have spent resources to produce, and therefore profit from that situation, is further exploitation on top of that.
Vegans are generally okay with pets on the basis that they're adopted, and that we aren't exploiting them to serve our own interests. You can adopt hens, but the responsible thing to do is to prevent them laying using implants, except in the USA where this is not allowed. In that case, I personally would prefer chickens were allowed to benefit from their own production and those eggs are fed back to them, which restores some of the enormous amount of energy needed to create them. Excess eggs should then be donated to food banks, fed to other rescued animals or donated to vulnerable people rather than thrown away.
Milk is clearcut, since no animal produces milk without first being made pregnant. To keep a steady flow of milk you have to continuously impregnate them, and generally remove the calf so they aren't drinking it all. Dairy cows once again have been bred to overproduce so there may well be excess, but you really shouldn't be allowing pregnancy in the first place, so this is a moot point in terms of what to do with it.
With sheep it is a bit different, while sheep have been purposely bred to over-produce wool, wool is still an incidental part of keeping sheep, they need to be sheared and there is no real way for them to directly benefit from their own production. It is essentially a waste product at that point, like manure. Views differ on this, but I've no issue with a non-profit organisation selling wool on the basis that 100% of the funds generated go towards the care of the animals in question, which is practiced by many animal sanctuaries. Otherwise I think it is fine if someone donating the wool to an animal shelter for blankets, or turning it into warm clothing for the needy.
As a general rule, animals should be allowed to benefit from what they produce, rather than us. In cases where they can't directly benefit, we certainly shouldn't seek to profit from them. The power dynamic between humans and non-human animals, between pet and owner, will always be imbalanced and to materially benefit from that relationship is taking advantage of that power for personal gain. As soon as you're personally profiting from an animal's body, you also have a vested interest in continuing to make sure the animal continues to produce whatever you are profiting from, opening the door to further exploitation or even abuse.
Things like eggs from pet chickens or wool from a rescued sheep certainly aren't the biggest animal rights issues on our radar, but thinking about it in an ethically consistent fashion means that we apply the same values to these situations as we would any human use of non-human animals. Animals do not exist to serve our interests, and we should respect their bodily autonomy in every way that is possible and practicable. In short, we just shouldn't be looking for ways to benefit from our relationships with animals.

Does PETA not understand how animals work --
If you don't milk a cow, they end up in physical pain. The same thing can actually happen to humans; if a human is producing milk but the milk isn't being expelled (whether that be via nursing or pumping) then it can cause a blocked milk duct and eventually mastitis.
If you don't shear a sheep's wool, they'll overheat and in some cases the wool will be too heavy for the animal to even support its own weight. Wool is basically just a different version of fur, which means it never stops growing. Shearing a sheep is best for its health, as is removing the fur of other animals that are in a similar spot (alpacas, some rabbit breeds, some goat breeds, etc).
Domestic dogs were literally bred for human convenience and companionship, and some breeds are more susceptible to separation anxiety. Dogs are basically emotionally wired to desire human companionship. Fear towards humans is almost always a learned behavior in dogs. Even feral dogs depend on humans for food, which is why feral dogs are always found in and around human settlements.
Sometimes a wild animal can't be released into the wild, for a variety of reasons. For example, a bird which would need to be able to fly to survive in the wild might not be able to fly, and so wouldn't survive in the wild. Most orphaned animals are kept on sanctuaries or in zoos because they weren't able learn to survive on their own by a member of their own species, making survival in the wild next to impossible.
Feel free to add more/correct me on any of this, I'm just sick of PETA acting like they know what's best for animals when they clearly do not.

Now, onto Crying Wolf!
Rough
The four set off through the woods and towards the road, the cold morning air biting their skin while the Sun warmed them from above. The once muddied ground had hardened into rough shapes during the night.
Silver
The day that Jack stopped being a living human boy was just like any other. He woke up at dawn and ate a breakfast of bland porridge with his mother. The rabbits were screaming. They went out to herd the sheep out into the fields. He watched the herd while his mother sheared the fluffiest of the herd in the barn. In the afternoon, they took the sheep into a different field. Then, he spun the wool, while she watched the herd. At sunset, they herded the sheep back into the barn. His mother ruffled his hair and told Jack that he did a very good job at spinning the wool. She gave him a silver fish and sent him to get a bowl of stew from Bob. His mother sat at the loom and began weaving the threads Jack had spun into fabric.
Stripe
The shopkeeper spent a minute surveying everything he had grabbed and then another minute adjusting her veil as she thought up a price. “Seven tens zebra,” she eventually said. Lux nodded. It was a high price, but he was buying a lot of food. He was just glad that she didn’t want to barter; Ogwut had taken everything worth bartering to get water. Lux reached for one of the many pouches on his belt, unbuckling the one devoted to zebra shells. He pulled six strings of ten striped mollusc shells and three loose shells out, then grimaced. He didn’t have enough for the pickled onions afterall. Lux pushed the jar of pickled onions away from the pile of food and looked back at the shopkeeper, hoping that he had enough to buy the food he needed.
Collar
How much time Lux spent in that cell, he did not know. It could have been minutes or hours or even a day. It could not have been very long, for he was given neither food nor water, but still remained in good health. Eventually, he heard the hefty lock of his cell door give a dull click as someone unlocked it. The hinges screamed as the door was pulled open. “Get up, your paint’s here,” a uniformed woman grunted as a man wearing the same uniform grabbed Lux by his collar and yanked him to his feet.

stable hand twice and "frail of health" touya where touya comes from a wealthy family but enji "favors" (if you can call it that) shouto and kind of wants touya and natsuo out of the way, to make shouto his primary heir. so due to some bad burns his eldest got, enji labels touya as "frail" and thus cannot possibly do whatever enji does.
and while touya isn't in the best of health, he's far from the sickly runt enji paints him as. and a good chunk of whatever ill effects his body endures probably stems from the fact that enji insists (see: demands) touya stay in his room, preferably his bed, all day long.
now nearing 25, touya has known long enough that enji's discarded him. and maybe he could live with that if it weren't for basically being a prisoner in his own home. and at this rate, he'll never be able to anything. can't even take a walk around the block without enji getting red in the face.
being forced to watch natsuo and fuyumi at least build their own lives, shouto being handed (or forced into, depending on your perspective) their father's role in the local economy, it's enough to make touya lose his mind. especially since it looks like enji's expecting shouto to also inherit "the touya problem"
well, touya's not one to just sit around all day, despite his father's orders. and his mother's reluctance adherence to said orders.
he often sneaks out, if nothing else than to get some fresh air and people watch. it beats looking out that tiny window all day long.
and one day, when he knows enji is out looking for him, he's sneaking through town until he gets to the outskirts. he likes wandering out there, getting to see the treeline and the distant mountains. but he has little time to gaze across the meadow to see if he can spot some local fauna and instead slips into the nearby stable for cover.
and who else works there but jin. working with animals is all he's ever known, ever since both his parents died; his mother from an accident and his father from a disease that swept through the land some years ago. a grizzly old man who owned a nearby ranch put him to work and, well, here he is.
he's gotten the freedom to go anywhere. no matter where you end up, somebody always needs another set of hands to herd cattle, shear sheep, and, currently, maintain the horses.
touya's never been so close to any animal, let alone ones these big. he's come here to hide, but curiosity's got him by the scruff and he's wandering down the stalls.
and jin calls out for him, spotting a trespasser. it's not uncommon for a kid to sneak in, always in awe by the size and strength of these animals. but it's often harrier when it's someone older, someone who should know better.
touya doesn't mind explaining, especially since he is, in fact, on private property. and jin seems to relax.
ok i'll write a pt 2 blabbing post abt this au later i'm so damn tired rip <3

My problem with wool isnt some misguided idea that sheep are killed during the process of shearing.
My problem is that production animals are selectively bred to produce more and more wool which can cause health problems (compare with dogs being selective bred to have such squished faces that they can barely breathe), and the fact that a lot of farms do not let their production animals do things which are species-appropriate, and instead everything is done from the point of view of extracting as much profit as possible from these living and feeling creatures.
And it is interesting that people raving about stupid vegans thinking that sheep are killed during the shearing never mention the breeding or the way animals are treated as objects. Even the same people who do recognise the issues with breeding of flat-faced dogs. It's almost like people think there are some kind of categories of "animals that shouldn't suffer" and "animals that I don't really care if they suffer."
And you can "not all farmers" as much as you want, but that does not offer any kind of reassurances for me that no sheep has suffered unnecessarily for this skein of yarn, which I do not need to buy as I can make do with plant-based or yes, synthetic, fibers. And yes I do live in a cold country and I can still make do with non-animal fibers.

I care for my sister a lot, I really do. But some of the things she says and does just makes me so upset. Honestly I would like to cut contact. But I only know two to three people in real life and my sister is one of them, and my sister is legally blind and needs help getting places. (Mom won't be around forever and she isn't showing an interest in getting to know other people besides me and Mom)
She has no idea what boundaries are, and is so oblivious that it seems like she's trying to be malicious. I know she's not doing a lot of what she does to me specifically on purpose, but there is only so much I can take. Especially when she just doesn't listen to me even when I am practically begging her to just stop. I have had to pull the Mom card recently to get her to stop crossing my boundaries. She listened to mom and her counselor before the person literally saying "fucking stop". She had to be told by two people, who should have had nothing to do with our fight, that she had completely crossed a line and did everything completely wrong she possibly could have done wrong. Instead of the person begging her to stop, to stop crossing the line, to stop talking, to just stop. What is it about me that she won't respect. Is it because I'm the little sibling, is it because I wasn't perfectly fucking calm. She called my anger irrational. I think my anger was perfectly rational. With the shit she was doing and saying. With her once again crossing my boundaries even though I have shown her where the line is. Even when I literally said stop and she continued anyway.
There is just some things me and my sister should not be talking about. Because we have different opinions. We have different morals. So some topics are off limits. She often ignores this. An example of a topic? She's a Terf. She's into a particular anime trope. I have told her not to mention that anime trope. She likes to say that the anime trope isn't transphobic because it's "only in anime". Hell some of her views on things are enough for me to want to try and cut contact. She's bigoted and falls so easily down far right conspiracy rabbit holes. She's listened to Fox fucking news over me and sources I've shown her. Her morals are very middle-class bigoted white woman, cares more about animal welfare than human beings, she's into eugenics no matter how much she denies it. Which I find confusing because both me and her grew up disabled in major poverty in the goddamned country. I suppose my sister is proof of how strong propaganda and misinformation is. How does someone in the country think shearing sheep kills them, that all animal farming is bad. And yet also ignores that slavery still exists. And the thing is that when I told her our morals are different because I care more about people and she cares more about animals, she didn't deny it. She wanted to, but she couldn't.
Why won't she listen to anything I say but will with others? How come she disrespects me more than anyone else? She has done this even before I was trans, so I know it's not that. She has even asked herself why she treats me differently than others. So she realizes that she does this but doesn't know why. My best guesses are: I am the little sibling I am supposed to be dumber. My mood disorders and overall mental health. My physical resemblance to our dad, she has BAD memories of that asshole. She's competitive. She wants things to be like "the old days" even though the "old days" she remembers never really existed.
#moral thing#personal vent#personal rant#personal post#personal#vent#vent post#long rant#rant#rant post#ask to tag#long post#family can be frustrating#if her morals were just bigoted that would be less confusing. but they are that flavor of fascist vegan morals.#as someone who grew up in farming country fascist vegan morals are just a veneer of being progressive over their bigoted inner core#a power trip to feel above others who don't do the and try to force it on people#I know this because my sister would often send pictures of bloody animals to try and get me to see the light. it's bullshit#vegans aren't inherently bad people. I can understand restricting your diet if eating meat weirds you out#I'm autistic I know that feeling with other foods. I despise zucchini. there is also health reasons and just because they can#the only vegans I dislike are the ones that send pictures of bloody animals and act like fucking Christian/catholic recruiters#ranting in the tags

I’m of the opinion that even if you’re vegan, you should make an exception for wool and honey/beeswax.
Sheep need to be sheared yearly for their health, and if done correctly, it doesn’t hurt them at all. If we don’t use the wool that comes off of them, it just goes to waste, so we might as well put it to use anyway.
Bees make much more honey than they need, and in the wild they will fill up a hive and then leave for a new one, leaving the honey inside to be eaten by other animals. Bees in bee farms are also ostensibly there by choice. If they don’t like a location, they can and will just leave. They generally stay because it’s a mutually beneficial arrangement. They get abundant access to food and protection from predators, and in exchange, a beekeeper takes the excess honey and wax they weren’t going to use anyway.
You could make a similar argument for eggs, but I won’t get into it on this post. The basic gist is that wool and honey are products of humans caring for animals, not abusing them, and we shouldn’t waste them.
Ayoo just to preempt the inevitable dumb takes we’re about to start seeing;
I am PRO-WOOL
I am PRO-LEATHER
I am PRO-BEES
Fuck the idea of replacing durable, sustainable animal products with cheap, flimsy plastic that doesn’t bio-degrade. Agave nectar and other artificial sweeteners are expensive, labor-intensive, and destroy the environment to be farmed.
Do not buy into pernicious marketing campaigns pushed by dickhead organizations trying to stay relevant, like PETA.

The Top Minecraft Tools You Need for Efficient Building and Crafting
Surviving your first night in Minecraft can be a daunting task, especially for beginners. However, with the right steps, you can make it through the night and begin your adventure. Follow this simple guide to ensure your first night is a success and sets you up for survival.
Online video games have certainly evolved into a global phenomenon, offering a vast range of experiences for players of all ages. The growth of immersive gameplay, particularly with games like Minecraft, showcases how technology is making these virtual worlds more engaging. If you're looking to explore Minecraft further, you can easily enjoy it on PC by visiting Minecraft for PC. This platform offers a fantastic way to experience the game with all the features and benefits that PC gaming provides.
Gather Resources Immediately
As soon as you spawn in Minecraft, start gathering essential resources. Punch trees to collect wood, which can be crafted into wooden planks. These planks are essential for crafting tools and building a shelter. Collect some stone too, as it will be necessary for crafting better tools later on.
Craft Basic Tools
Once you’ve gathered wood, open your crafting menu to create a crafting table. With the table, craft a wooden pickaxe to mine stone. After acquiring enough stone, upgrade your tools to stone versions, which are more durable and effective. Basic tools will help you gather resources more efficiently.
Build a Shelter
Before nightfall, create a shelter to protect yourself from hostile mobs like zombies, skeletons, and creepers. You can either dig into the side of a hill or quickly build a small structure using wood or stone. Make sure it has enough room to move around and block out enemies.
Light Up Your Shelter
To prevent hostile mobs from spawning inside your shelter, place torches or other light sources. To craft torches, combine sticks with coal or charcoal in your crafting table. Lighting your shelter will keep it safe and ensure you don’t get attacked while you wait for daylight.
Craft a Bed
Crafting a bed is important for setting your spawn point and avoiding the dangers of sleeping through the night. Collect wool from sheep by either killing them or shearing them if you have iron. Once you have three wool and three wooden planks, craft a bed to make your nights safer.
Manage Your Hunger
Throughout your first night, keep an eye on your hunger bar. If it depletes, your health will stop regenerating. Gather food like apples from trees or meat from animals like cows or chickens. Cook the meat using a furnace to restore more health and avoid starving while adventuring.
Be Prepared for Nighttime Mobs
At night, hostile mobs like zombies, spiders, and skeletons spawn and roam the world. If you're outside, be cautious. Use your shelter to stay safe, and if you venture out, bring weapons like a wooden or stone sword. Always be on the lookout for mobs to avoid being surprised.
Craft a Furnace for Cooking
A furnace is vital for cooking food and crafting other useful items like glass or metal tools. To craft one, place eight cobblestones in a square shape in the crafting menu. Using the furnace, you can cook food, smelt ores, and create useful items for your survival journey.
Gather Resources for Day Two
As soon as daylight breaks, exit your shelter and start gathering more resources. Mine iron ore, collect more wood, and search for food. These resources will be crucial for crafting stronger tools, armor, and weapons to ensure your survival in the coming days. Always be prepared for new challenges.
Explore and Expand Your Shelter
Once you’ve survived your first night, start expanding your shelter into a more permanent base. Begin exploring nearby caves for valuable ores like iron and coal. The next steps in your Minecraft journey will require more advanced tools, so gather resources to prepare for the next phases of survival and adventure
